The contents of the supported options list database were frozen in June of 2007. The following link(s) represents supported option information which has been added or changed subsequent to June 2007. November 2007: EH853A, EH854A and EH926A HP StorageWorks Ultrium 1840 Tape Drive now supported on AlphaServer DS10, DS15, DS15A, DS20E, DS25, ES40, ES45, ES47, ES80, GS80, GS160, GS320 and GS1280 with Tru64 UNIX and OpenVMS.

The supported options list includes all options that have been successfully tested and qualified on the AlphaServer system. The list contains the option part number, description, restrictions (RST) and operating system support.

The entries in the RST column have the following meanings:

• YES = restrictions exist and are available through the part number hot-link.
• NO = restrictions do not exist.

The entries in the operating system columns have the following meanings:

• YES = Supported by the operating system; no minimum operating system version required.
• SPT = Indicates support for Linux. Use hyperlink for version details
• N/S = Not currently supported by the operating system.
• N/A = Not applicable.
• CD = Configuration Dependent
• Max = Indicates maximum number supported on each operating system. Differences by operating system are noted.
• Version number = Supported by the operating system; minimum operating system version required for that support.
• The operating system names are abbreviated as follows:
  • UNIX = Tru64 UNIX
  • VMS = OpenVMS
  • Linux = Linux
• An asterisk beside the operating system version indicates cluster support.

The supported options list is not intended to include complete ordering information, configuration information, currently shipping revisions or recommended choices. Refer to the HP Systems and Options Catalog or QuickSpecs ordering menus for detailed ordering information.

Refer to the system Owner's Guide for an illustration of the PCI slot locations.

Please note that not all software patches are present in this directory as some may be affected by business or export agreements that do not allow their distribution at-large. Other patches listed in the Option Restrictions may have been superseded by more current versions.

Minimum RMC is v1.9.

Minimum Drive Firmware Required: 3BE3 (Fibre Channel disk drives).

1GHz systems: Minimum SRM Console is v5.9-10.
1.25GHz systems: Minimum SRM Console is v6.2-8.

1GHz systems: Minimum SROM is v2.18-F.
1.25GHz systems: Minimum SROM is v2.22-F.

o Univeral PCI modules can operate in all slots (3.3V and 5.0V).
o Universal PCI modules can opereate at a maximum bus speed of 33-MHz or 66-MHz.
o Universal PCI modules operating at 33-MHz placed in a 66-MHz slot will reduce the entire bus to operate at 33-MHz.
o Universal PCI modules capable of operating at 66-MHz when placed in a 33-MHz slot will operate at 33-MHz.

Model 1B(1.25GHz) and Model 1B(1GHz):

o Modules designed for 5.0V signaling and 33-MHz bus speed can only operate in 33-MHz slots (slots 9 and 10).
o A maximum total of two 5V modules can be installed in system.
o Modules designed for 3.3 V signaling and 66-MHz bus speed can only operate in 66-MHz slots (slots 4, 5, 7 and 8).
o Slot 3 is AGP 4X graphics slot.
o 4 PCI slots (slots 4, 5, 7 and 8) are hot-plug ready.

Model 2B(1.25GHz) and Models 2 & 2B(1GHz):

o Modules designed for 5.0V signaling and 33-MHz bus speed can only operate in 33-MHz slots (slot 3, 6, 9, and 10).
o A maximum total of four 5V modules can be installed in the system.
o Modules designed for 3.3 V signaling and 66-MHz bus speed can only operate in 66-MHz slots (slot 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8).
o 7 PCI slots (slots 4 through 10) are hot-plug ready.
o Systems with the following saleable part numbers and revisions will utilize the 30-48816-06 enclosure and a new non-hot plug PCI backplane module, 54-30766-01 instead of the hot plug backplane, 54-30418-01.

Model 3B(1.25GHz) and Model 3B(1GHz):

o Modules designed for 5.0V signaling and 33-MHz bus speed can only operate in 33-MHz slots (slots 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10).
o A maximum total of eight 5V modules can be installed over 3 PCI buses.
o Modules designed for 3.3 V signaling and 66-MHz bus speed can only operate in 66-MHz slots (slots 4 and 5).
o 7 PCI slots (4 through 10) are hot-plug ready.

RAID controllers requiring AlphaBIOS not supported. There is no console AlphaBIOS to run RAID Configuration Utility.

• For Linux:
• Minimum Operating System version for Linux is RH7.1.
• Distribution kit for RedHat is V7.1.
• Minimum Linux kernel version is v2.4.3 for RedHat.
• Linux kernel can be obtained from the following website: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.4.

• For UNIX:
• Minimum Operating System version for Tru64 UNIX is v5.1A.
