HP offers several different licensing approaches for use with Insight Control. These include bundles with HP server hardware, single node licenses, and volume choices.
Bundled with HP server hardware
Most of the ProLiant servers are sold pre-packaged with Insight Control, allowing you to immediately extend the functionality of your HP ProLiant server solution.
HP BladeSystem enclosures can be bought or configured to include Insight Control licenses. Insight Control is also available as a part of Performance Bundle with some of the ProLiant rack and tower (ML/DL) servers. Refer to the online product pages and literature for more information.
Single-node licenses
A single-node license is the most basic option for Insight software. When you order a single-node license, you will receive an entitlement certificate for your license and instructions on how to register and redeem that entitlement.
Single-node licenses can be either physical delivery or electronic-delivery (E-delivery). In case of physical delivery, the entitlement certificate will be shipped to you as a physical deliverable; whereas, in case of E-delivery, the entitlement certificate will be emailed to you. Media is not included with the license. You may choose to download any software images you require for free and create your own installation media, or you may separately purchase an HP Insight Management Media kit.
You may use a single-node license on one target platform; if you have more targets to cover, you will need to either purchase more single-node licenses or consider one of the volume choices. Note that purchase of single-node licenses can result in the largest number of license keys to have to manage.
The single-node license is appropriate for customers who:
- Need Insight Management licenses whenever individual ProLiant servers are purchased
- Purchase a few ProLiant servers at a time
- Own a few existing ProLiant servers for which the software is needed
- Can only accept separate license entitlement certificates based on their current business operations and IT administration workloads
Volume choices
Customers who are interested in purchasing quantities of Insight software products have several options to choose from. If you prefer a fully electronic process, the E-Delivery option is ideal and strongly recommended by HP for most customers. Upon ordering electronic licenses, you will receive a single electronic license entitlement by email for the exact number of licenses that you ordered. If you prefer physical delivery, a flexible-quantity license will provide you with a single physical license entitlement certificate for the exact number of licenses that you ordered.
If you would like to establish a contract with HP that allows you to purchase licenses whenever you need them and then activate them through a single, upfront, master license key assigned to your company, department, or branch, an activation key agreement (AKA) should be your choice.
